SCHOOL WEATHER STATION PROJECT

WHAT? A student project to build an "Automated Weather Station"

WHY? Two reasons: (1) LEARN about electricity, electronics, and microcomputers

(2) GET Weather Data for students, and classes

HOW? A few students will work with Terry King to design and build the station

NOTE: This project was concluded at the end of the 2007 school year..

NEWS: We are ready to see real Weather Data!

1. The Pre-IB Geography class has figured out and connected the first three sensors:
  • Wind Speed
  • Wind Direction
  • Outdoor Temperature
2. They have written Microcomputer software to read the sensors and create Weather Observation data
3. They have written Microcomputer software to format data and send it to a desktop computer

- We hope other students will be working on other sensors and getting data onto the WWW

WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW:

Section 4 - Interfacing to our sensors

INFORMATION AND RESOURCES:

Information on our wind direction and wind speed sensors, and our thermometer chip. Also some info on our Microcomputer and Software.

*NEW* Overview of Embedded Systems and MicroControllers

QUESTIONS FROM THE DEVELOPERS:

Here's the place for You to ask questions as we try to figure out how to make all this stuff work!
